Clan Ranks
Leader
The leader of ChimeraClan is of the highest rank, and must be respected. Their word is the law, as the warrior code states, and all cats must obey them. They are responsible for the whole clan, and it is their duty to call Clan meetings, carry out ceremonies, and overall just lead the clan. If the leader loses a life, StarClan heals the killing wound as best they can, but if the wound is too large the leader will end up losing all their lives.
A leader's suffix must be -star.
Deputy
The deputy is the second-in-command, below the leader. Their duty is to organize border and hunting patrols, and if a leader is unable to do their duties the deputy is the one who takes their place until they are able to return their duties.
If the current leader of ChimeraClan dies, the deputy will take their place, and in the event of that happening, the deputy must travel to the Mushroom Grove to communicate with StarClan and receive their nine lives.
A warrior must have mentored at least one apprentice to become a candidate for the deputy position.
Medicine Cat
The Medicine Cat is a cat who has been specifically trained in the ways of healing. They receive and interpret signs given by StarClan, and are highly respected among the clan. Both medicine cats are taught the basics of fighting and hunting, but they are not warriors and therefore do not often do a warrior's duties.
ChimeraClan has two medicine cats: the Head Medicine Cat and the Deputy Medicine Cat. The head medicine cat is the main medicine cat, the one with all the medicine cat duties, while the deputy medicine cat is the head medicine cat's 'helper'.
Warrior
A warrior is cat trained in the ways of combat. A warriors duty is to defend, hunt and fight for their clan.
Apprentice
An apprentice is a cat who is training to be a warrior or medicine cat. They are mentored by a warrior or the head medicine cat respectively, and are trained in the ways of the clan.
Queen
A queen is a she-cat who is expecting or nursing kits. They reside in the clan's nursery.
Kit
A kit is a young kitten, aged between 0 and 6 moons. They are not allowed to leave camp without permission.
Elder
An elder is a retired warrior, leader or medicine cat.
Other 'Ranks'
Loner
A loner is a cat who does not live in the clan. They are respectful of boundaries, but may cross them at times.
Rogue
A rogue is a cat who used to live in the clan, but got exiled for something. They don't care for boundaries and often cause trouble for ChimeraClan
The Warrior Code
Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats outside the Clan, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.
Elders, queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders. If any warrior or apprentice is sick or injured, they may eat while the elders, queens, and kits are eating.
Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.
The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires or is exiled.
After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is not from the Clan.
The word of the Clan Leader is the warrior code.
An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his/her battles, unless it is necessary for self-defense.
The Medicine Cat Code
A medicine cat cannot take on a mate.
A medicine cat cannot have kits.
A medicine cat will never let personal feelings in the way of his or her duties.
A medicine cat may be trained in as a warrior before a medicine cat, but a medicine cat cannot become a normal warrior.
A medicine cat must be able to interpret signs from StarClan.
Medicine cats cannot reject an injured cat.
A medicine cat must do everything in his or her power to save a sick or injured cat.
A medicine cat will give his or her life to save a cat.
Cat Names
A clan cat goes through three stages of naming as they grow up and reach maturity: Kithood, Apprenticeship and Warriorhood, whereas a loner just receives a name. Rogues tend to keep their clan name, but they sometimes shorten it to prefix only.
The cat will then keep the name for the rest of their life unless they need a name change or the cat is a loner who joins the clan. In the case of the latter the loner can either keep their original name as the prefix or opt for an entirely new name, however all loners who join the clan must receive a warrior name.
When a kit is born, they are given a prefix, like Cinder-, and the suffix -kit, as a name, which will form something like Cinderkit.
A kit is generally named for their appearance (i.e. Black-, Red-, Blue-), but they can be named for other things as well, like their soul animal (i.e. Leopard-, Owl-, Wolf-).
When a kit is apprenticed, the -kit suffix is replaced by the -paw suffix, so Cinderkit will become Cinderpaw.
Then when the apprentice becomes a warrior, they are given a permanent suffix, which usually represents their skills, like -claw, or personality, like -storm, but the suffix can represent other things as well. So our Cinderpaw could be called Cinderfall.
If a warrior becomes deputy, they retain their name, but if they then become a leader, the suffix -star will replace the suffix they already have. So if Cinderfall became a leader, they would become Cinderstar.
The spirit and the soul are sacred to the clan, so therefore are not used as either a prefix or a suffix.
The sun, moon and stars are also sacred, so therefore are also not no be used as either a prefix or suffix. -star, however, is allowed as a suffix, but for the leader only.
I have made a little name generator if you need a little help with finding a name. It can be found here.
Pregnancy and Kitting
A queen is usually pregnant for around 2 moons/months (equivalent to 1 week in real-life) and will usually have 1-5 kits in a litter. However, due to the harsh conditions of ChimeraClan, a queen will actually have only 1-3 kits in a litter, and having 4-5 is very rare.
A she-cat is usually able to tell if they are expecting after a week or two, but they can confirm suspicions with the medicine cat.
After about half a moon (half a week in real-life) the she-cat will usually feel the kits moving, and a heartbeat will also usually be felt.
The queen will know when she's going to kit; usually around 24 hours before the process begins. However, sometimes she will end up kitting early, especially if she becomes stressed.
Queens can easily kit on their own and without a medicine cat, and usually do not wail in pain unless there are complications.
Problems when kitting are very rare, but not impossible. Problems include extreme blood loss, which can result in death, stillborn kits, kits born backwards etc.
Tail Signals
Battle techniques used by all warriors
Back Kick
An explosive move used to catch an opponent from behind. Judge opponent's distance from you carefully, then lash out with your back legs, taking all weight on your front paws.
Belly Rake
Slice with unsheathed claws against the soft flesh of the opponent's belly.
Front Paw Blow
This is a frontal attack. Bring your front paw down hard on your opponent's head. Claws sheathed.
Forepaw Slash
Another frontal attack, like a twin to the Front Paw Blow. Slice downward with your front paw at the face or body of your opponent.
Killing Bite
A death blow to the back of the neck. Quick and silent and considered dishonorable. Used only as a last resort.
Partner Fighting
Warriors who have trained and fought together will often fall instinctively into a defensive position, each protecting each other's back while fending off an opponent on either side. Slashing, clawing, and leaping together, battle pairs can be a whirlwind of danger for attackers.
Play Dead
Effective in a tight situation, such as when you are pinned. Stop struggling and go limp. When your opponent relaxes his/her grip, thinking you are defeated, push yourself up explosively.
Teeth Grip
Target your opponent's extremities- the legs, tail, scruff or ears- and sink in your teeth and hold.
Half-Turn Belly Rake
Turn onto your side, slip under the opponent's belly, rake it with your claws, then swiftly turn back onto all fours out from under your opponent.
Scruff Shake
Secure a strong teeth grip in the scruff of your opponents neck, then shake violently until he or she is too rattled to fight back. Most effective against rats, who are small enough to throw.
